Shooting in Belize City

Belize City(WBWTN) - A shooting incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. this morning at the corner of Tibruce Street and Croton Lane in the PIV area of Belize City, leaving two men injured.

One of the victims has been named as 27-year-old Jimmy Rojas, who was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds. It has been reported that Rojas had legal troubles in the past, including a charge stemming from the 2024 shooting death of Jose Matus.

Shortly after, a second man — identified as Eric Frazer, also known as “Pooh” — also arrived at the hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. Early reports suggest Frazer may be connected to the earlier shooting and could potentially be one of the suspects involved.

Initial information indicates that a black Mercedes Benz, allegedly associated with the Backa Lands Crips (BLC) gang, was used in the shooting. Tensions between the BLC and the Peace in the Village (PIV) group have long existed, raising concerns that this may be linked to ongoing gang conflicts.

As of this report, the condition of both men remains unconfirmed. Police have not yet issued an official statement but are reportedly holding several individuals in connection with the ongoing investigation.
