Corozal, Belize (WBWTN) - On Wednesday, May 7th, 2025, around 7:21 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the Corozal District. Officers visited an unnamed street in the Hall Layout area, where they received information that 34-year-old Charles Itzab had been shot and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
According to the information received, Itzab was riding his bicycle when he was approached by an unknown person who fired several shots at him. The shooter then ran into nearby bushes and escaped.
Itzab was hit twice in the left side of his abdomen and once in his upper left shoulder. His injuries are serious, and he underwent surgery at the Northern Regional Hospital. He is currently in a serious state but doctors say his condition is stable.
Police have not yet received any useful information about the suspect.
