Ladyville, Belize District, (WBWTN) - Just after midday today, 36-year-old Nelson Henry, also known as “Mung,” was shot and killed on Yellowtail Street in Ladyville.
According to reports, Henry was washing a vehicle when two men approached on a motorcycle and opened fire. He sustained several gunshot wounds and collapsed near the roadside, where he was later pronounced dead.
Henry was no stranger to the law. In 2011, he was charged with murder but was acquitted in 2018 during a trial without jury. In 2017, he had also been granted bail while awaiting trial for a separate murder charge. In 2022, at age 34, he was again before the courts, this time for charges related to maim and gang affiliation between January 2021 and February 2022.
He was known to have ties to the Majestic Alley gang in Belize City but is believed to have parted ways with the group in recent years.
Authorities are investigating whether Henry’s murder is linked to ongoing gang rivalries that continue to claim lives across the country.
