Belize (WBWTN) - Belizean musician and actor Berne Velasquez, known as Deported Man, is leading by example when it comes to supporting local talent.

After attending a live performance by the legendary Aziatic in Hopkins Village, Velasquez shared a reel on his Facebook page titled "DEPORTED MAN GOES TO SEE THE WORLD FAMOUS AZIATIC DESTROYING THE STAGE IN HOPKINS BELIZE." The energy and talent on stage left an impact—and so did a comment that followed.

In response, Velasquez wrote: “Thanks for taking the time to comment… Wow. Aziatic is a legend in his own right and been tearing down stages for decades. Unfortunately, since he’s alive, no one will highlight this fact or even share his videos. RIP to all the artists who have passed on, but I will always show these artists respect and love while they are alive to see that they are loved and appreciated.”

Velasquez, who has long carried the title of Belize’s number one selling artist, shared his personal commitment to showing love and recognition to fellow artists like Aziatic while they are still here. His words highlight a truth many in Belize can relate to—artists are often celebrated more in death than in life.

By choosing to give credit where it’s due now, Velasquez reminds us that appreciation doesn’t have to wait. It can be expressed today, through support, attention, and respect.
