Stann Creek, Belize (WBWTN) - From May 5th to May 9th, 2025, five female police officers took part in a special training program called Women in Trades at the Stann Creek ITVET. This training is usually done by men, but these women proudly stepped up to the challenge.

The officers - D/Cpl Arzu, PC Trapp, PC Roaches, PC Villagran, and Barrera learned many hands on skills during the week. They were taught how to properly clean and set up an air conditioning unit, connect a switch and light, check a car engine, change oil, and reset the oil percentage. They also learned how to scan a vehicle using a diagnostic scanner.

Today, May 9th, 2025, a graduation ceremony was held to celebrate their achievement. Each officer received a certificate from ITVET to show they completed the training.

This program helped show that women can do great in trade skills too, and it encouraged others to try new things, even in fields usually done by men.
