(WBWTN) - What was supposed to be just another night out in Punta Gorda turned deadly for 27-year-old Jeremiah Coc, whose body was discovered along Mahogany Street on Good Friday, April 18, 2025.
After days of questions and concern from the community, police have named the two individuals believed to be behind the killing. Axel Goevany Zetino, also 27 and a Belizean national, along with a 17-year-old Guatemalan boy, have been formally charged with murder. The arrest was made on Monday, April 21.
According to investigators, Coc had been out drinking at a bar when things took a turn. A disagreement broke out between him and the two accused, and police believe that’s what led to the violent end of his life. But what exactly sparked the argument remains a mystery — authorities say that part is still unclear.
The Punta Gorda community is left stunned, and many are asking how a simple night of socializing turned into a deadly encounter. While the legal process moves forward, the search for answers continues.
