(WBWTN) - Police have arrested and charged a Punta Gorda resident in connection with the Holy Saturday shooting that left one man injured on Prince Street.
Felix Gonzalez Jr, 35, also known as "Beenie Man", of West Street, Punta Gorda, was formally charged yesterday with Attempted Murder following the shooting of 37-year-old Derek Hines.
The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Hines, a resident of Prince Street, was reportedly standing alone when he was approached by a man dressed in a blue long-sleeve jacket with a hoodie. The assailant pulled out a firearm and fired a single shot, striking Hines in the neck before fleeing the scene.
