95 Annual Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic 2025

(WBWTN)- Belizean riders watched a foreign cyclist claim victory in the country’s most prestigious race, as British sprinter Jim Brown (Miami Blazers) outdueled American rival Alfredo Bueno in a heart-stopping finish at the 95th Holy Saturday Cross Country Classic.

The race, which drew 119 riders on the grueling Belize City-to-San Ignacio-and-back route, came down to a two-man battle between Brown and Bueno (L39ION of Los Angeles) in the final stretch. Just when it seemed Bueno had the win secured, Brown unleashed a perfectly timed sprint on Marine Parade, surging ahead in the last seconds to take the $10,000 top prize.

While Colombian Uriel Omar Espinoza (Tenis Stars) claimed third, Belize’s best hope, Derrick Chavarria (G-Flow), crossed fourth—once again leaving local fans wondering when a homegrown rider will reclaim the throne.

With a international champion crowned, the question lingers: Will Belize ever bring the Classic title back home?
